Summer

The rocky, irregular shoreline of Kennisis Lake provides excellent canoeing and kayaking scenery. Power boating, water skiing, jet-skiing and pontooning are also popular activities among visitors and summer residents.

Kennisis Lake is a favoured fishing destination year round. Primarily a lake trout fishery, the lake also holds yellow perch, brook trout, smallmouth bass, walleye, muskellunge, largemouth bass and rock bass.

Winter

This is a wonderful season in the area to practice cross country skiing, downhill skiing, snow shoeing dog sledging, taking a snowmobile out or simply walking in the many trails around.

Kennisis Lake is one of the most popular ice fishing lakes in the Highlands.

Recycling center

There are five landfill sites located throughout the Muncipality of Dysart. They are located in Haliburton, Harcourt, West Guilford, Kennisis Lake and West Bay in the Fort Irwin area. Each landfill is unique in terms of the hours of operations and the types of materials that are accepted for recycling, etc.

Waste Management in Dysart is taking on a whole new life as Council and staff continuously develop and implement new strategies to reduce the amount of waste going into our local landfills.
